When does the sun actually set in Istanbul?
Our cruise leaves Kabataş at 21:00 every evening, with boarding from 20:00. Whether you see the sun go down from the boat or from the pier depends on the month — this table tells you honestly what to expect.
| Month | Sunset (approx.) | What you get on the 20:00 boarding / 21:00 departure |
|---|---|---|
| January | ≈ 17:45 | Full night cruise; the city is lit from the moment you board. |
| February | ≈ 18:15 | Night cruise; clear winter air gives the sharpest bridge lights. |
| March | ≈ 18:50 | Night cruise, dusk long gone by boarding. |
| April | ≈ 19:25 | A faint glow may remain at boarding; the cruise itself is at night. |
| May | ≈ 20:00 | Golden light on the pier as you board; blue hour as the boat leaves. |
| June | ≈ 20:40 | Peak season: sunset during boarding, the 21:00 departure sails straight into the blue hour. |
| July | ≈ 20:40 | As June — the palaces switch on their lights while you finish the first mezes. |
| August | ≈ 20:20 | Sunset at boarding, deep blue sky for the first bridge. |
| September | ≈ 19:40 | Twilight at boarding, night on the water. |
| October | ≈ 18:50 | Night cruise; mild evenings, terrace still comfortable. |
| November | ≈ 18:05 | Night cruise; bring a jacket for the terrace. |
| December | ≈ 17:35 | Night cruise; the salons are the warm place to be, the terrace for short photo breaks. |
Times are rounded to the nearest five minutes and shift a little within each month. The best months for a true sunset-to-night transition are May to August.
